Ten Days ‘Til Oz

Sorry it has been so long since our last post! Things have been crazy over here but we do want to do our best to be intentional about this blog and post regularly in the future! So we will start by catching everyone up with what we’ve been up to these last few weeks!

We’ve been overwhelmed with gratitude as we’ve had countless family, friends and even strangers donate to our DTS fund. It has been so exciting to see God work through the people closest to us to make this dream a reality. As of right now all of our course fees are paid for and we only have a little over $3,000 to raise in the next few months before we leave for outreach phase! Thank you so much to each person that has donated and/or prayed for us! This time has really taught us to trust God with finances. If He has called you to something, He will provide everything you need to get there! We are already learning so much and DTS hasn’t even started yet!

Connor’s mom and step-dad threw us an awesome going away party last week and it was a really special time to connect with family and friends that we hadn’t seen for a while. A huge thank you to Robin and Jim for organizing and hosting it and also to everyone that came! Both of Connor’s grandpas even drove all the way from Arkansas to say goodbye! Below are a few pictures from the party as well as one we took with Connor’s grandpas before we went out to celebrate his 24th birthday with family.

Right now we’re in the process of selling, donating, and packing our belongings and storing them in our parents’ houses (thank you parents!). We both absolutely hate clutter and are pretty minimalist so this process has been really fun and freeing. Connor’s car was also recently totaled while it was parked in front of our house. We are praising God because it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the check we received from insurance was more than what we could have sold the car for!

We leave Colorado on September 29th and will be spending a few days in Sydney before heading to Newcastle on October 6th for orientation. Our school leaders recently sent an email out to all of the October quarter students to share some of their heart for this year’s school. They said that the words they are getting as they pray for the school are along the themes of faith, trust, and intimacy with God. Another theme that staff received was going out as bold warriors to impact the nations from a place of intimacy. This was really exciting to hear as we have both been craving a more intimate and fiery relationship with God. The staff also shared a verse that they sense is a key theme for our school:

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35

We are so excited to see the work God is going to do through each of our hearts these next few months and we will keep updating this blog with what we’re learning during DTS! Thanks for following along on our journey!
